Interior designer Anna RR, 44 and husband Colin MacDougal, a restaurateur, 42, bought the imposing five storey building – once the offices of the Scottish Football Association-five years ago and spent three years transforming it into a dream home with seven bedrooms and four bathrooms.
But it's upstairs on the 65 sq ft top floor where she really indulged in her passion for all things space age.
"I call this room the Spaceship for obvious reasons," says Anna (pictured right).
"I've always loved sci fi and all those Sixties plastic injection moulded furniture and because the top floor is our hangout/party space we could afford to be a little bit crazy.
"I'm not into small knickknacks so most of the things I buy are big. None of them is especially practical. I buy them purely because I think they are fabulous.
"The wall radiators light up blue at night and with the all whitewalls and floor Colin thinks it looks like a gay bar!" The Spaceship also doubles up as a guestroom and has two bedrooms, a bathroom and a bar/kitchen area which are all white as well.
"I've held the kids' birthday parties up here and everything is completely wipeable. I soon learnt to be practical after having two girls, she laughs.

1. DOLL'S HOUSE "This is from The Lighthouse, a design centre in Glasgow (www.thelighthouse.co.uk). Every little girl needs a doll's house, but this must have been designed with me in mind. Even the dolls are groovy."
2. VASE "I love these Philippe Starck designs. They're from a shop called Dallas & Dallas (www.dallasanddallas.com) in Glasgow. The girls put toys in them, which makes Mummy twitch."
3. DOG "I bought him last year from www.connectionsinteriors.co.uk. Isn't he fab? The kids love pretending to ride him. I'd like to get the green version that's twice the size."
4. WHITE DISH SCULPTURE "This was made to order from designers Hill Jephson Robb (www.hjrstudio.com). I like to meditate on it while looking at the stars through the skylight."
5. WHITE TV "This is from www.placesandspaces.com. I spend hours playing with our Wii on it – there's lots of space to really go for it."
6. WOBBLY STOOLS "I got these from The Lighthouse. They have sand in the bottom and wobble about, so people don't sit on them but they look good!"

The giant black thistle design tiles in Anna's ensuite bathroom were especially made by by Glasgow architects NORD but it's the spaceage bath which forms the centrepiece-it constantly changes colour. "It goes through every colour of the rainbow and the kids love it," says Anna. (From Alternative Plans in Notting Hill, London)
A huge power shower hides behind the black glass door and towels sit inside heated radiator boxes. "I don't have any mirrors in the house apart from in this room," Anna admits, "I must go out looking like a clown!"
Clear out your clutter-anything that's not serving a purpose should go
Have lots of storage space if objects aren't meant for display, keep them hidden
Use colour-but not all over. It's good for adding an accent to a room
Mix and match for an eclectic look
