Yorkshire woman Linda, 49, was nominated by her son Ben, who said that although she already has a lot on her plate as full-time carer for her mother, who has Alzheimer's disease and her dad, who’s suffering from Parkinson’s disease, she also finds the time to run the local Mother & Toddlers group.

On top of that, Linda also cares for two elderly women nearby and helps raise money for the charity York Against Cancer. "My mum may not have cured a disease or climbed Mount Everest," says Ben. "But she has a rare quality of being able to listen to others and help with with her words and actions. She has improved the lives of so many people around her and has never expected anything in return."
