I took part in ITV1’s reality show Ladette To Lady six months ago, coming second. The experience made me feel much more feminine – I swapped my tomboy clothes for dresses and pretty tops, but I’m very conscious of my flat chest. I’m 4ft 10in, a tiny size 6 and an A-cup. I know my boyfriend doesn’t care about my small cleavage, but I do. I can’t even take off my bra in front of him unless I’ve had a couple of drinks. He knows I wear padded bras and ‘chicken fillets’ all the time, but I’d love bigger breasts. I couldn’t face surgery – getting cut open for implants is way too gory.

I’ve just read about a new treatment that’s become known as the lunchtime ‘boob jab’. A doctor injects a filler called Macrolane, which is made from hyaluronic acid, into your breasts. It costs from £2,000 a time but it wears off after 18 months. Apparently hyaluronic acid has been used in facial fillers for years and it gets broken down by the body over that time and expelled as waste. Even though it seems expensive, it’s still half the price of surgery and the procedure takes less than an hour. If I really don’t like the result, I won’t have to wait long to get my natural shape back.

FEBRUARY 2008

I’ve decided to go ahead with the procedure and use my savings to pay for it. I’ve researched the treatment on the internet and although it has been approved for use, nobody yet knows whether there are long-term side effects. I’m sure it will help boost my confidence though and my boyfriend is backing me all the way. I phoned the clinic and booked in for a consultation next month. If all goes well, I can have the boob jab on the same day. I’m so excited.

I arrived at the clinic and met the consultant. He looked at my breasts and suggested where he could put the filler to give me the best shape. He explained I’d have a local anaesthetic to numb the area, then the filler would be injected using thick needles. They looked as big as straws but I was more excited than frightened. Because my breasts are so small, they needed to use more filler than they do normally. It cost £3,500. The only discomfort was some stinging as the anaesthetic was injected. The consultant talked to me the whole way through and I could see my chest getting bigger while they were doing it! Within 45 minutes, it was all over.

I can’t stop looking at my new boobs. I’ve had no bruising or scarring – but they were tender for a couple of days. My breasts feel exactly as they did before only I’ve gone up two sizes to a C-cup!

APRIL 2008

The procedure has totally transformed my life, and in 18 months time, I’ll be booking in for my £1,400 top-up. I’ve got so much more confidence and, thanks to my new curves, I love getting naked for my man!
