WHAT'S WITH THE... SHOULDER PADS

TV stylist Hannah Sandling's on the celebrity love affair with '80s tailoring

Dust off your Dynasty DVDs because power dressing is back. Fashionistas are showcasing jackets and tops with built-in broad boxiness – but for a cheap, chic update, slide a pair of detatchable shoulder pads into a cardi or coat.

How to wear them
* If you’re pear-shaped, shoulder pads are ideal for creating balance. Keep it simple with a single-colour jacket, à la Agyness.

How not to wear them
* This look needs 100 per cent commitment – shame on Kimberly with her half-hearted attempt. To make this look work, she should have added retro accessories, like Róisín’s visor shades, or rolled her sleeves up for a Miami Vice feel.
