At the end of each day, most supermarkets will reduce the price of some items which are about to go out of date, by placing a yellow sticker on them.

One shopper, who was keen to take advantage of the discounts at her local Sainsbury's, nabbed a huge haul of reduced products, during a recent shopping trip.

She was able to pick up a wide range of items, from Taste the Difference salmon for just £2,24, to a whole chicken for under £3.

The bargain lover also stocked up on multiple loaves of bread, some dips and a selection of sweet treats.

Posting on Yellow sticker shopping tips, tricks and hauls, a private Facebook group with 174,300 members, Kay shared a snap of her finds.

In the picture, Kay's discounted products can be seen covering her entire kitchen counter.

Kay, who is a pensioner, said that, despite her huge haul, there were still plenty more discounted items in the shop for others to enjoy.

However, some Facebook users took to the comments section of her post to the savvy shopper of being greedy.

Commenting on the fact that there were a large amount of perishable items (such as bread and meat) in Kay's yellow sticker haul, that will be out of date in a day or two, one person said: "Greedy do you really need all that food?

"How much is going to be wasted?

"That could have gone to someone else who needed it".

I work in a supermarket and the worst part about it all are the yellow sticker shoppers - they fight me for discounted food

Another person complained: "If I do get the opportunity to get yellow sticker items it doesn’t happen very often because theirs people that take the lot".

Replying to a Facebook user who enquired which supermarket Kay had visited, another person fumed: "Why? She's taken the lot!"

However, many people were supportive of Kay's large haul.

One person said: "I don’t think there’s anything wrong in taking the lot if you can use it all.

"Times are hard and although it’s nice to think of others you’ve got to do whatever you can to make sure you’ve fed your own because no one else will be looking after yours apart from you."

When do supermarkets put out yellow-sticker bargains?

The time supermarkets reduce their products vary across stores.

Here's a rough supermarket-by-supermarket guide:

Aldi

Aldi uses a red sticker to show reductions on fresh products such as bread, meat, fruit and vegetables.

This is when they have reached the last day of shelf life.

Red stickered items are most commonly found at opening and closing times.

M&S

Reduction times can vary from store to store but is most likely to occur near closing time.

Asda

Asda told Which? that yellow stickers are applied twice a day - in the morning and evening.

Co-op

Co-op told The Sun its reduced-to-clear prices are generally applied about four hours before the store closes.

Lidl

Lidl has a similar procedure to Asda and Aldi with reductions twice a day.

However individual stores may opt to reduce prices throughout the day.

Morrisons

Shoppers online have said that Morrisons does the best bargains first thing in the morning.

However, the store told Which? that there are no specific times for yellow sticker price cuts.

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's told The Sun it's at the store manager's discretion whether to offer discounts.

However, shoppers have reported that the best deals are in the evening from 6pm.

Tesco

Tesco has said there is no specific time for reduction, but again most people found that prices were reduced from 6pm.

Waitrose

As with most of the other stores, Waitrose shoppers have said the best reductions are found before closing.

However the store stated that there is no specific time for yellow stickers to be applied.

Another person said: "Fantastic haul, well done".

A third said: 'Amazing finds well done.
