DANCING ON ICE WINNER SUZANNE SHAW HAS NEVER BEEN IN BETTER SHAPE – AND SHE SAYS THAT’S ALL DOWN TO THE NEW MAN IN HER LIFE

SHE may be hanging up her blades of glory, but Dancing On Ice winner Suzanne Shaw is now planning on making the most of her ice-sculpted curves by fronting a new lingerie campaign.

“I feel in the best shape of my life at the moment,” she reveals.

“There’s no way I would have considered modelling underwear before, but I’ve lost 1st 3lb and dropped to a size 8 thanks to the show, so now I’m happy wandering around a photoshoot in nothing but a bra and pants.

“I’m incredibly lean now. My bum has really toned up – it’s much firmer and higher than it was before,” she admits.

Suzanne’s amazing new shape hasn’t gone unnoticed, with fellow Dancing On Ice star Chris Fountain cheekily commenting on her “nice bum”.

“It was so funny when he said that,” she laughs, “especially because I’ve always been paranoid about my bum and thighs.

"When I started the show I felt self-conscious and wanted flesh-coloured fabric everywhere, but by the finals I’d have been happy if they’d just sprayed me with crystals!”

All this is a long way from Suzanne’s Hear’Say days, which began in 2001 on reality TV show Popstars.

“I was a size 12/14 back then and people used to comment on my size.

"It made me self-conscious, but bingeing then trying to eat sensibly didn’t help.”

Suzanne was so desperate, she turned to extreme diets.

“I went on a seven-day regime eating nothing but cauliflower.

"It worked at first, but when I stopped all the weight piled back on,” she recalls.

But then something clicked and the 5ft 1in singer changed her eating habits and dropped to a size 10.

“I cut out wheat products and banned myself from eating when I wasn’t hungry.

"It was simple, but it worked,” she explains.

Despite making peace with her body, Suzanne’s life was turned upside down in 2005 when her then partner Darren Day, 39, left her and their newborn son Corey on Mother’s Day, saying: “I don’t do family.”

Struggling to lose her baby weight and suffering with post-natal depression and the shock of Day’s departure, Suzanne spent a lot of time crying at her kitchen table.

But a new body regime and relationship meant she was soon back in control.

“In the end I went on a strict diet and exercise programme to get fast results and lose the baby weight.

"And being on Dancing On Ice has helped massively,” she says.

Burning up to 500 calories an hour in training for the hit TV show toned every inch of 26-year-old Suzanne’s body, while her low-fat diet and no-food-after-7pm rule have burned off every inch of excess fat.

But it’s her relationship with radio DJ Jason King, 32, which has taught Suzanne to love her body.

“There was a time when I could only get undressed with the lights off, but Jason has changed all that.

"It makes a difference to be with someone who loves you – you can’t help but be comfortable in your own skin.”

Suzanne is the new face and body of Michelle for George exclusively available at Asda. Created by Michelle Mone, the range of bras (£12) and pants (£6) are on sale now (www.michelleforgeorge.com).
