The hunger-busting drink (6/10) Hunger Shot, £2.89 for four
Containing a blend of protein and fibre that is scientifically proven to make you feel fuller for longer, this mini yoghurt drink has 54 calories and promises to make you “want to eat less between meals”.
Tester Anna Lord, 37, says: “I’ve never understood people who say things like: ‘I’m not hungry – I had a big lunch’. I can always eat. So I wanted something filling that would stop me snacking. These drinks do work – just not for long. Still, by using them between meals I definitely snacked less, so I wasn’t surprised that I lost weight.”

The slimming patch (4/10) Pink Patch, £39.95 for a month’s supply
A seaweed called fucus vesiculosus is the miracle in this product. It helps slimmers by suppressing appetite, stimulating the metabolism and promoting energy.
Tester Caroline Hooper, 28, says: “I wanted something very low maintenance so the Pink Patch was perfect – slap one on and forget about it. At first it seemed to suppress my appetite – I definitely couldn’t eat as much – but I did feel funny after putting on a new patch, like I’d had too much caffeine. But as the trial went on, the effects lessened and I didn’t lose as much as I’d hoped.”

The craving-beating beads (0/10) Slenderbeads, £14.99 for one month’s supply
These tiny metal beads use the principles of acupressure. According to the makers, they make your stomach empty more slowly, which lessens hunger and cravings.
Tester Danielle Crowne, 28, says: “Every morning I diligently stuck the beads behind my ear and pressed them when I wanted a snack, as per the instructions. At first I definitely felt less likely to overeat, but the effect soon wore off. When I did have a huge craving, pressing the bead seemed to make absolutely no difference at all.”

The diet hand gel (7/10) Green Tea Hand Gel, £24.95
Green tea is famous for its metabolism-boosting properties, and now it comes in a gel. The makers claim that rubbing it into your hands will stop hunger in moments.
Tester Hannah Barnes, 32, says: “I’m breastfeeding and I liked the sound of this gel because it contains a natural ingredient –green tea. I’m not sure it stopped me feeling hungry, but it did stop me snacking. Every time I felt like reaching for a biscuit, I rubbed the gel into my hands instead. I’m really chuffed it helped me lose 3lb so I’m going to keep using it for another month.”

The weight-loss water (8/10) Skinny Water, 99p per 500ml bottle
Containing the craving-busting chemical chromium and the fat-burning amino acid L-carnitine, four bottles of this water each day are supposed to help suppress appetite and crank up your metabolism to burn more fat.
Tester Brisceys Ruiz-Hermosilla, 26, says: “I loved how natural and easy to use this product sounded. But I hated the taste. The pomegranate flavour was very sweet so drinking four bottles a day was a struggle. It was only after the trial that I realised there’s a flavour-free version! I lost half a stone, but I think that’s because the volume of water and its sweetness made me feel full so I ate less.”
