'I WORK MY BUFF OFF to look this good'

YOU CAN STOP THROWING DARTS AT HER PICTURE NOW. EVEN EVA LONGORIA PARKER HAS TO HIT THE GYM BEFORE A CHOCOLATE FIX
By Caroline Corcoran

Let’s face it. There’s not an ounce of surplus flesh on any of the Desperate Housewives cast, although in a weigh-off, Eva Longoria Parker, 33, would no doubt take the skinny prize.

But while other petite Hollywood women can look scrawny and drawn, Eva always looks healthy.

So how does she do it? Fabulous met her to find out.

Does the Hollywood lifestyle and being papped put pressure on you to stay slim?

No, not at all. At the level I’m at in my career, it’s about the acting, not about my size.

I have a degree in kinesiology, which is studying the body, physical training and appearance, so a sensible attitude is ingrained in me.

The Hollywood lifestyle just happens to be the one I live – I like staying in shape and eating healthily.

I don’t do it because anyone else is telling me to.

Have you ever given in to peer pressure and gone on a diet to lose weight?

I’ve never dieted per se, but I love meat and fish and was raised eating fresh vegetables, so I’m used to quite a good diet.

I’m not a big bread or pasta person – I don’t avoid carbs on purpose, I just don’t really like them.

I love chocolate and that’s where my indulgent side comes in.

As long as it’s in moderation, I think that’s fine.

Do you take diet tips from celebrity friends?

I don’t really take tips from my friends – Victoria Beckham is a vegetarian, for example, so our diets are really different – but we have each other round for meals.

I cook a lot of Mexican food and since I met my husband Tony, who’s French, we’ve eaten lots of French food, which is freshly prepared and low in fat.

What’s your biggest insecurity when it comes to your body?

I worry about gravity taking its toll, and that’s why I work out regularly – anything for my butt.

About four times a week I do cardio, weight training, ballet-style bar training, kick-boxing… I try to mix it up as much as possible.

But I also do it because it keeps me healthy, not to lose weight.

I get ill less and feel fresher when I exercise.

Then I often go home, eat chocolate ice cream and tell myself it’s all right because I’ve balanced it out with the exercise!

Your husband Tony is a professional basketball star – have you picked up any health tips from him?

Yeah, just being around him makes me healthier.

Tony’s been a great influence – he doesn’t drink fizzy drinks or eat sweets, and I find myself doing the same.

If I had a husband who was really unhealthy, it would be a lot harder.
