THE HOT COLOUR: BOTTLE BLONDEAs seen on Mischa Barton (left), Kylie, Agyness Deyn.
The expert British Colourist of The Year Anita Cox says: “Almost white peroxide blonde is the hot colour this season, but don’t even think about doing it yourself. Only a professional will be able to tell you if your hair can go that light– results can be less good if your hair’s naturally dark. Plus, stripping your hair of colour can wreck its condition, but having it done in a good salon will minimise the damage. This is also quite a high-maintenance colour so you’ll need to use specially made products to keep it well conditioned. Your hairdresser can advise you on what’s best.”
3 must-try products
Shampoo: L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Silver Gloss Protect System, £8.25. Helps beat brassiness.
Conditioner: John Frieda Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Tone-Refreshing Conditioner, £5.49. Keeps colour salon fresh.
Colour booster: Wella Lifetex Color Reflex Mask for Blonde Hair, £7.95. Restores lost moisture.

THE HOT TEXTURE: THE NU WAVEAs seen on Vanessa Paradis (left), Emma Bunton, Beyoncé.
The expert Actress Emily Blunt’s favourite hairdresser Phil Smith says: “Perms are back – thanks to ’80s TV series Ashes To Ashes. But rather than copying Keeley Hawes’ tight curls, tone it down so it’s like Vanessa Paradis’ loose and wavy do at the Oscars.
“First spritz your wet hair with a heat protecting spray. Then blow-dry it so that the outside layer is smooth. Clamp straightening irons three quarters of the way down the hair shaft and turn them to curl the hair around it, then pull gently downwards. Once your hair is cool, loosen the waves with your fingers. Boost shine by spritzing with a serum spray.”
3 must-try products
Heat protector: Tresemmé Thermal Creations Curl Activator Spray, £4.99. Formulated to protect curly styles.
Straightening irons: Ghd IV Mini Stylers, £98. The rounded edges help to create smooth curls.
Shine spray: Therapi Silk Spray, £9.99. A lightweight hair shiner that adds gloss in an instant.

THE HOT CUT: THE LAYERED SHAGAs Seen On Drew Barrymore (left), Kate Moss.
The expert New York hairdresser Danilo, whose clients include Gwen Stefani, says: “Longer layers are in right now. And the longer they are, the more style choices you have. You can also combine the look with a fringe, but keep it long so it can be swept to the side.
“If your hair is thick or slightly curly, leave it to dry naturally, twisting random sections around your fingers to create definition. If it’s fine and straight, dry with a big bristle brush to give volume. Revive this style in between washes by flipping your head upside down and spraying with hairspray.”
3 must-try products
Hairspray: Pantene Enhanced Layers Create And Hold Hairspray, £2.99. Non-sticky spray that adds va-va-voom.
Shine spray: MOP Glisten Spray Gloss, £12.95. Calms flyaway hair and boosts shine.
Bristle brush: SPI Super Brush, £7.95. Helps cut blow-drying time in half as it’s big enough to hold large sections in place as you dry.

THE HOT UPDO: THE GRECIAN PLAITAs Seen On Jessica Alba (left).
The expert Myleene Klass’ stylist Mark Hill says: “Jessica Alba showed us how plaits work best with her gorgeous loose, Grecian-inspired do at this year’s Oscars. First smooth dry hair by combing a small amount of serum through the mid-lengths to the ends. Tong it into loose waves, then pile high at the back of the head, securing with grips.
“With the end of a tail comb, tease free thin lengths of hair from the sides, starting above the ear. Plait these lengths and coil them around the head or simply pin into position.”
3 must-try products
Serum: Bnatural Glossing Serum, £2.99. Gives a healthy-looking finish.
Tongs: Braun Satinstyler, £34.99. Perfect for creating loose waves.
Comb: Goody Tail Comb, £1.69. Helps prise out sections for plaiting and tidies stray strands.
THE HOT STYLE: THE SIDE SWEEPAs seen on Sienna Miller (left), Thandie Newton.
The expert Kate Moss’ stylist James Brown says: “I created this look for Sienna at the Baftas and all you need to have is hair that’s shoulder-length or longer.
“Prep wet, clean hair with a curl-boosting product and blow-dry using a big bristle brush for bouncy waves.
“Starting above your ear, brush all hair over to one side and behind your neck. Fix tightly in place with grips. Then add a light mist of hairspray.”
3 must-try products
Curl booster: Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock, £10.80. To enhance your natural wave.
Hairspray: Fructis Style Strength & Shine Hairspray, £2.99. For stay-put hold.
Bristle brush: Denman Large Grooming Brush, £14.75. To give some body to your blow-dry.
