THE COLOUR "There were deliciously rich shades of russet and burnished coppers all over the catwalks this season," says Mark Leeson, British Colourist Of The Year.
"The great thing about these colours is they give any complexion a much-needed boost for those grey winter months."
Get the look: Full-on, block shades of red, copper and mahogany are the hottest way to do colour, but if you don't have the time or cash for a salon-styled do, try Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL, £4.69. From ruby to scarlet, the shades are guaranteed to brighten up a dreary October. Stop your red fading with Head & Shoulders Colour Care Shampoo and Conditioner, £1.89 each.

THE CUT Natural and low-maintenance (hurrah!) was the order of the day at the autumn/winter catwalk shows, with long, barely-there layers and relaxed grown-out fringes.
"This is such a modern look but it's also very feminine," says celebrity stylist Sam McKnight.
Get the look: Ask your hairdresser for a blunt, one-length cut with a few layers to frame the face and an eye-skimming fringe. Less is more when it comes to styling – go for a centre parting with roughly tousled waves.
"Work Pantene Enhanced Layers Definition Mousse, £2.99, into damp hair," advises Sam. "Then blow-dry hair straight. To create texture, wrap random sections loosely around a pair of large tongs."
Boots Big Curls Ceramic Jumbo Tong, £9.99, is perfect for bed-head waves.

It's a stealth style that's been threatening to become an all-out trend for over a year, but crimped hair was all over the runways.
Get the look: Start with a centre parting, then divide the hair into sections and crimp using BaByliss Pro Crimper 200, £14.99. Spray with Elnett Satin Hairspray Supreme Hold, £1.98, for added shine, and apply L'Oréal Studio Line DirtyClean Texturising Paste, £4.29, to the ends of the hair to prevent the crimp from dropping. Finally smooth out hair with a large paddle brush, like Philip Kingsley's Vented Paddle Brush, £18, for a theatrical look that screams vamp.

THE UPDO The jury's still out on Agyness Deyn's new ‘baby bob', but you can get a similarly short and edgy style without parting with your long locks. Cue the faux bob updo, seen at Dolce & Gabbana and Donna Karan.
Get the look: "Begin by spritzing hair with Wella High Hair Crystal Styler, £7.50, for added volume, and part it to the side, securing with a kirby grip," instructs Simon Bryer, High Hair styling director.
"Next, tie hair into a low ponytail and drag the band to the ends to hold it all together. Then roll the ponytail underneath itself until you reach the nape of the neck."
Secure with grips, like Claire's Kirby Grips, £1.50 for 30 , and finish by pulling out a few strands of hair around your face to achieve a more natural look.
THE ACCESSORYWave bye-bye to summer's flower-adorned hair – the bow is taking over. Whether it's an alice band with a pretty bow attached, or a ribbon around your head, this look will easily take you through day to night, and glams up any outfit.
"A bow embellishment looks incredibly dramatic against big hair and dresses up more formal 'dos," says Oliver Woods, Sadie Frost's hairstylist.
Get the look: A ribbon will stay put better if your locks aren't too clean. Work Garnier Fructis Style Body & Volume Boosting Spray, £3.99, into the hair, before sectioning and backcombing with the Tangle Teezer, £9.99, which keeps hair knot-free without damaging it. Place a long ribbon around your head, just behind the ears. Tie in a big bow at the side of your head for a chic, schoolgirl look.
